One way that you can store your kayak is on the ceiling of a large room or garage. When doing this, make sure you have professional assistance if you are not the handiest person on your block. Also make sure you are not going to be hanging the kayak over an area that puts anybody at risk if it happens to fall for some reason. One way you can put your kayak on the ceiling is to install two simple pullies from the ceiling. Run some rope through them and then tie the rope to the kayak and hoist it right up. Tie off the loose ends to something secure and your kayak is now on the ceiling. Another way to store your on the ceiling is to use large J-hooks, and then hang the kayak by the cockpit on the hooks. You can also use the same J-hooks if you would like to hang your kayak on the wall of a room, or an outside wall on your home or shed. Just make sure the kayak is not in a position to collect dust, dirt, or water. |

Once the season has come back around, and it is time to break out the kayak again, transporting it should be the least of your worries. A great way to carry your kayak is on your shoulder. Stand the kayak up next to you, and then slowly lean it towards you so the inside of the cockpit rests upon your shoulder. Place the hand of the same shoulder inside the kayak for stability. If you feel secure enough, use your other hand to carry your paddle.
If you don't have enough strength to carry your kayak yourself, enlist the help of a friend to carry one end of it for you. Or, you can carry two kayaks if your friend also has a boat. Just grab the same handles on each boat in each of your hands, and have your friend do the same with the other handles, whether they are the front or the back.
